We go on with another old German Tank in model. Ρτ 18354
Tim has posted a great photo here viewtopic.php?f=13&t=13&start=10
and Tasos (ANAROUS) has created with Christo's help a really nice set of decals.

The model is from Tillig (old Sachsen model) and comes in many different liveries. The one I used is Tillig 76679
note that some modification will be needed, mostly at the ladder handrails and the reposition of the side panels.

First I painted the tank and ladder with Vallejo primer and when it was set, I applied the old good MOLAK 7004.
it's part of a rail color series made for ROCO and has a RAL 1004.

here are the modifications that we have to do on the model for a closer to the prototype result.

Tillig 76679v.JPG

The marking plates have to change place as at the original, the smaller is at the left, while the bigger one is at the right of the wagon.
So, a new opening has to be made on the metal parts to allow the bolt that holds the superstructure to the frame.
Also a photo etched "documents holder" has been added.

The top hand rails have been shortened and the ladder handrails have been replaced by 0.5 mm fishing line secured with superglue.

Thanks Nick :D

Last modification is the replacement of the buffers with the white metal parts that Andreas provided us.
It's a great improvement compared to the original one at the bottom.

I recently had the chance to see more shots of the original wagon from Stefanos Goulakos collection. Thanks to him, I cleared a couple points and decided to make some more conversions that I initially had tried to avoid

first I found out that at both sides the bigger boards were closer to the brake post
so the model parts have to be cut and regrouped again...

Something that I had already spotted was that the ladder seemed to be closer to the rear than it is at the model.
I initially decided not to model that as it needed some major cutting and filling
Looking at the photos though and the hatch position, I realized that the tank had been placed the other way round! the hatch being closer to the rear.
So I'm giving it a try...

the more observant will note that the platform seems a bit wider, but I refuse to alter this point too! I'd have to make from scratch the whole thing...
A 95% accuracy, I think, has been already achieved :D

...
