A... That never was

A... That never was

In April 1993, on my traditional pilgrimage outside Thessaloniki, I came across sitting in a breakers yard this loco.

There was barbed wire, there was a dog but...

I went in, anyway. Thankfully the dog was tight but was barking like mad. I took another shot, this time closer. It looked something like a Kof II

The dog made such noise that the owner of the yard appeared from nowhere followed by a couple of his mates. I had to think fast on account of trespassing, breaking and entering and any other offense I may had committed. I told him that I was an interested buyer but I was interested in the origin of this loco that is why I came for a closer look. He was not convinced till I told him that I lived in England and I wanted to export the loco to my residence. Then his eyes saw $$$ and began to tell me the origin of the loco. He said a Greek guest-worker bought it in Germany and tried to sell it to OSE who were always suffering from a shortage of shunting engines. OSE could not buy it so the individual sold it to him. I told him that the next day I would return to check the paperwork but I never did. Of course there is no proof that he was telling me the truth...
