Photo Balkanmodels: Kalamata Park 1998. MacArthur D7104. Compare the photo with that of Jason's. More handrails are painted red as well as the single buffer and that there are no headlights.

Greetings from Australia!

I enjoy finding photos of engines that are the same as some that we use in Australia, I know that these machines are often in use all over the world. The loco in the photo is a MacArthur 2-8-2 from 1942, the same as your Vulcan 1947s.

It works at my local tourist railway, where I am a volunteer worker. The photograph is from a day where the train was "mixed" with ballast wagons and empty passenger cars, so we could do track work after the last train of the day.

Ha, I've finally worked out how to attach photos! Here is my second oldest, a few years ago, aged three. He is posing at the controls while the train is running along.

We burn coal as the fuel, which smells very nice, as well as being old fashioned. It lends itself well as an oven for lunch.

I wasn't so keen on opening a discussion on Australian railways in the world trains section, I was more interested in the comparison between the identical class of locomotives used on both our railway systems, and I am more interested in your railway system than mine!
