Hi Everyone,

These 3-axle carriages were commonly used until the early 70s in excursion trains. An Athens-Chalkis excursion organized by the ΕΡΓΑΤΙΚΗ ΕΣΤΙΑ ('Worker's Home', at that time a state controlled cultural association for workers) used to run every Sunday, at least until 1973. It was usually hauled by a Λγ steam locomotive, although towards the end it may have been hauled by an A200 (I have never seen it personally hauled by a diesel).

The timetable was that of an ordinary stopping passenger service, and it took 2:30 hours to reach Chalkis. When the train reached Chalkis, a railwayman would go through the carriages shouting to everyone that they should be back at the station by 19:00 (obviously, a microphone was an unheard of luxury in those days).

In the middle 70s these carriages were used in works trains, always in compositions of 4 to 5. I have often seen such trains, always empty, usually behind an A200.

Cheers,

Joseph

Greetings friends and wish you all the best for this forum.

Searching yesterday my photos I found this one which is not mine and do not remember who took it.
These wagons seem to me very unusual, Does anyone knows something about these two wagons;

Thank you for your wishes ANAROUS and welcome to the forum. To be honest I never saw these wagons before. For those friends however who do not read Greek the Red one reads OSE (in full) and the Blue one reads Ministry of Defence.

Maybe you can do a lovely paint job on a pair of Roco ones :D like all the other paint jobs you did on so many Greek themes.

There were four of these coaches painted with different colours (that blue-purple shown in the photo, red, green and yellow) which participated in an exhibition of the army and the Railfans Club.

They are still at Lachanokipi in awfull condition inside the ''jungle".
