The latest issue of "Locomotives International" has some recent photos from Greece, including a reference to Lb 964 at Thessaloniki depot and a photo of Lb 962 inside the "big shed" at Drama (with a CIWL coach behind). So, at some point Lb 962 must have been moved there, as the space it occupies in the picture (dated 3rd September 2019) was given over to Daisines when I visited in April 2018.

The question is when and how it was moved there?

Hi everyone,

Pierre, this pic is a real document! It’s the first time I see a close picture of a Lb with a spoked wheel and still featuring the left-hand drive!

It would be nice if one of the Thessaloniki-based friends could supply some information about the conversion dates.

Thanks for posting, and All The Best for the New Year (in other words, Bonne et Heureuse Année!! )

Dear friends,

Balkan Models has purchased the rights, moulds and everything relating to kits E101 ( Lb951 class) and E109 (THg521 class) from DJH. These kits will still be manufactured by DJH but only be available through us. There is a minimum factory order of 10 kits. Price will depend on level of interest.

Hi Christo,
Congratulations on this! I did see this on f/b too but I’d rather post here.
Although I have one of each of these ready built, I am still interested in the Lb951. I was told that the original Thg521 actually came with a ready made chassis - is this the case and if so, does it apply to the Lb too, please?
Many thanks,
John E.
Cheers,
John.

Hi John,

I too prefer communications through the forum. FB has the annoying tendency of disappearing things.

I have never heard anything about ready made chassis for either E101 or E109 kits so I cannot comment. All I know is that the last batch of E101 (Lb) came with ready made valve gear. I hope it is the same again but I am not sure. I will ask and post the answer here once I know for certain.

Hi Christo,
Thanks for your reply, I look forward to hearing the response from DJH.
To be honest, I think that ready made valve gear would be as beneficial as a chassis!
I don’t think I’ve ever recovered from messing up a friend’s N gauge Minitrix 2-10-0 chassis many years ago. I’ve been scared of doing the same again ever since, I’ve rebuilt some locos but the fear is still there.
Cheers,
John E.
